Oh yes, did I mention that there is a steep
downhill going down towards the transition area? Well first thing on the run is to crawl back up there. And then go down and back out of "the pit". Really great way to start the
marathon. I wasn't feeling too great to start with, but it was getting worse. Once out of the pit, I crossed Eric, so I guessed (and quite right too), that I had about 15 minutes
on him. Then again, not feeling too good and starting to get some stitches in my side. Trying to slow down didn't quite help, so it didn't take that long before I had to start
walking (fortunately, not in the picture). After something like 6 or 8 km I was passed by the first women, being Karen Smyers, than a girl I didn't recognize and then Lori Bowden.
Continuing along the course, I just couldn't get rid of the stitches. They would go away when walking, but quickly came back when running again. No fun at all. So, retargeting
to finishing the race. Not quite what I had in mind, but ok, so I now have the experience, I know the course, I have seen and felt what the weather can be like (even if it was pretty
mild with the lack of sun during the run).
